All Hands on Deck!

As Theatre Direct makes its approach to its new home, we’ve benefited greatly from a number of terrific professionals who have brought their passion and skill to various initiatives through the season.

With the generous support of the Metcalf Foundation’s Strategic Initiatives Grant,
Mitch Smolkin joined us to develop our capital campaign strategy. Through a Humber Fundraising Internship, Kevin Gojmerac joined us and assisted Mitch in the critical research and preparation for our campaign.

With our beloved Production Manager Beth Brown on Maternity Leave, Duncan Morgan joined us to act as Production Manager and Sound Designer for Binti’s and Offensive Fouls.

Elizabeth Helmers, our Education Coordinator made an awesome move from desk to rehearsal hall as the assistant director for Offensive Fouls. Stepping into her shoes was Jessi Linn Davies, formerly of the COC, who created wonderful education resources for all three of our productions this year!

Theatre and Dance artist Matthew Romantini who from time to time takes the role of awesome arts administrator joined us to assist with producing duties from January to March. We miss his spontaneous interpretive dances.

The Metcalf Foundation also provided much needed funding for our Community and Education Outreach strategy under the leadership of respected arts education professional Caroline Hollway. As our Consulting Director of Community and Education Outreach, Caroline will assist us in the planning and development of this important centre of our activities in our new home.

The always non-plussed Nicky Phillips was our invaluable Administrative Assistant this season. When we weren’t employing her video creation services under the moniker of Scene One Media, she could be found poring over our database and “making lists.”

We were fortunate to be able to share the world of professional theatre with a budding performer and costume designer Marina Pratt, our co-op student from Harbord Collegiate, who learned much about the incredible professionalism of our community.

Finally, we are pleased to have the services of the remarkable Blair Francey, as our Consulting Director of Marketing and Communications. Blair recently founded his own company BF Design! www.bfdesign.ca

Many thanks to you all!
