Created by URGE with the Ensemble
As part of an innovative day-long Theatre and Education Program, students experienced the full artistic and educational impact of And By The Way, Miss … through a unique program inspired by the themes, issues and theatricality of the play. After the performance and Q & A, young people participated in movement and voice workshops led by the performers, followed by a visual arts activity designed by the artists of Harbourfront’s School by the Water. Comprehensive teacher and student resources supportrf all of these activities.
Given the thematic focus of And By The Way, Miss … and the distinct differences and needs of girls and boys at this age, Theatre Direct encouraged schools to make the day-long theatre and education program a girl-only event. After consulting with a number of educators, parents and young people, we believe this approach encouraged a more open, expressive and empowering experience for young girls.
