I Met a Bully on the Hill

by Martha Brooks & Maureen Hunter

This engaging play, performed “in the round”, is supported by preparation and follow-up activities along with invaluable resource materials for teachers and students.

Three young children must find a way to cope with the actions of a bully. Through their ordeals, they discover that retaliation isn’t the answer. In this engaging and honest play, the award-winning writers Martha Brooks and Maureen Hunter address an issue that affects so many young people and their families in a compassionate and intelligent manner.

Beginning in the 2002/2003 season, Theatre Direct Canada provided American Sign Language, theatrical interpretation for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired community. This wonderful presentation places four professional interpreters on-stage with the actors in a dynamic performance that ensures the power of the performance stays front and centre for school and general audiences in this community.

In 2001/2002, Theatre Direct Canada enjoyed continued success with its work in the schools and enjoyed the satisfaction of unanimous praise from Educators, Parents, and Students. Its production of Andrew’s Tree played to over 40,000 young people in and beyond the Greater Toronto Area and received a Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination for Outstanding Production. In the 2002/2003 season, the same creative team that brought Andrew’s Tree to life put its magic into another terrific work for students.
