Inspired by a true storySanctuary Song  tells a story from the point of view of Sydney, an Asian elephant and the remarkable 22-year friendship with her keeper who leads her to sanctuary in Tennessee.  Along the journey, her memories of childhood in the jungle, circus life and her solitary days in the zoo come alive through the emotional power of opera, evocative dance and stunning design.

Originally commissioned by Theatre Direct & developed and premiered in 2008 partnership with Tapestry New Opera Works and The Luminato Festival of Arts and Creativity.
