Theatre Direct Programs and the Revised Arts Curriculum
Our mandate strives for a dynamic interaction between sophisticated theatre and innovative education programs that further a child’s appreciation of the arts and empowers them as creative beings. Our work is consistent with the underlying ideas of the revised Arts Curriculum which are:
- Developing Creativity
- Communicating
- Understanding Culture
- Making Connection
Further, our daylong program of theatre and education meet the overall expectations of students in all elementary grade levels:
- Exploring Forms and Cultural Contexts (through witnessing a live theatre performance)
- Reflecting, Responding and Analyzing (through discussion, writing and drawing activities)
- Creating and Presenting (through drama, dance and music based workshops)
Finally, the majority of our productions this season have important connections to Environmental Education for your students and promote the appreciation of:
- The Earth’s physical and biological systems
- The dependency of our socialand economic systems on these natural systems
- The scientific and human dimensions of environmental issues
- The positive and negative consequences, both intended and unintended, of the interactions between human-created and natural systems
