Five DanceTheatre for the Senses! Conceived and Choreographed by Kitty Winter Performed by Andrew Bathory & Jennifer LeCuyer March 14 - April 2, 2011 Performed by two dancers to a live musical score, FIVE takes young people on a delightful journey through the five senses in a story told entirely through dance. “What will the dancers do when they see, hear, smell, taste and touch? Will they jump? Will they shiver? Will they roll on the floor giggling?” Presented as a contemporary dance installation for the youngest of our audiences, FIVE is a perfect introduction to live theatre and dance. The show introdues our five human senses in a fun and interactive way, through the language of dance and movement. “Dance is a universal language, and a particularly powerful art form for children. Says Hill, Like theatre, a good dance piece, created with the child in mind and driven by compelling storytelling has the potential to inspire in children a deeper understanding of human relationships and expands a child’s emotional vocabulary. But witnessing human behaviour through the powerful non-verbal communication of dance can positively contribute to the development of a child’s empathetic capacity, something so important in the early years”. |
